Somaliland: Internet Connectivity

A project funded by UNDP and implemented in Somaliland used an architecture similar to the Internet connectivity project in Ghana.  The aim of this project was to provide high-speed Internet access to research education and government institutions through a network.

  • The connection to the Internet backbone is a VSAT connection to a Danish ISP
  • The connections to other institutions are Point-to-Point WiFi connections. Initially, apart from the UNDP Compound, Hargeisa University, the Ministry of Planning and the President’s office were connected to the network
