As part of the European Union, Greece adopted a licensing process that is consistent with the EU regulatory framework for electronic communications. In accordance with the EU regulatory framework, the Greek licensing process features a general authorization regime. The Greek general authorization licensing process was established by the “Regulation on General Authorizations” (the Regulation), which was adopted by the Greek regulator, the National Telecommunications and Post Commission (the EETT) in 2006.  This Regulation was adopted after the enactment of Greek Law No. 3431/2006 “On electronic communications and other provisions” (the Greek Law). The Regulation outlines the requirement to obtain a general authorization, the process for obtaining a general authorization, and the terms and conditions of general authorizations, in addition to various other matters related to the general authorization regulatory framework.  For details about the Greek general authorization framework, see the Practice Note, "The Greek Licensing Process".  See also Greece: Registration Declaration for Engaging in Electronic Communications Activities under a General Authorisation Regime.
