On August 18, 2005, the Office of Communications (“Ofcom”), the British regulatory agency, determined that British Telecom (“BT”) no longer exercised significant market power in certain segments of the wholesale narrowband market.
These segments include inter-tandem conveyance and inter-tandem transit. These segments are used to carry and deliver narrowband voice and data calls between telephone exchanges. Consequently, Ofcom removed price controls and other relevant regulations on BT for those segments of the wholesale narrowband market.
